Fauci joins Georgetown University as Distinguished University Professor
Georgetown University announced on June 26, 2023 that Anthony Fauci — who had stepped down in December 2022 after 54 years at NIH, including 38 as NIAID director — would join its faculty effective July 1 as a Distinguished University Professor in the School of Medicine's Division of Infectious Diseases, with an additional appointment in the McCourt School of Public Policy. The rank of University Professor is Georgetown's highest professional honor. Fauci called the appointment 'a natural extension of my scientific, clinical and public health career.'
